Welcome to Season 2020 all

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder have been busy working on our grass field during the off season in the hope if having it ready for the start of season 2020 on Friday 27th March. Thanks to Bruce Puckett for his ongoing work when the City aren't there,  he has still been putting in many hours mowing and tidying the area.

Your Club Presidents will no doubt have already informed you of the upcoming Busy Bee at the Stadium on Saturday 14th March, the job list will be displayed on the day to ensure no areas are missed. The Busy Bee won't be any different to previous years, so let's be sure to muck-in and get it done please.

We have set down a Senior Mixed Pre Season Carnival for Saturday 21st March to coincide with the visit from Hockey WA. Our Junior Director Rikki-lee Rigby has also confirmed a Junior Pre Season Carnival for Sunday 22nd March as well, that way all players get some turf time before the season starts true! It is important for people to register for the Level 1 Coaching Accreditation prior to the Hockey WA visit, that includes paying a $50.00 nomination fee online. To be clear, Level 1 Accreditation is the level above Community Coaching. Ther will also be opportunities for Umpiring Accreditations as well.

We will have an Umpiring Panel ("UP") for season 2020, in turn clubs will not be allocated A1 Men or A1 Women's umpiring. Vice President Izaac Rowatt will head up the UP, along with the support of several other members as well. This is not the first time we have had an UP, and I am pleased to see it return, so please support this initiative.

Hockey enthusiasts will also be pleased to know we have commenced discussions about the next phase of stadium development works, the first stage being the completion of the dug-outs of course. We are currently having plans prepared for the Stadium extensions to the West, including a new kitchen, new bar with cool room, First Aid Room, Training/Function Room, Store Room and Office. One of the key motivations is to have a much more defined bar area, taking children away from the bar all together where possible, and allowing for maximum service areas to our members. There will be a new entry to the North, and also a new entry to the corridor to the Changerooms, thus alleviating the need to walk through the toilets. We will present floor plans and elevations for public/members comment, the same as the former Executive did when the first set of plans were drawn some years ago now.

All of the above was covered in this week's Presidents Meeting so no doubt some of you will already be across this information. There was plenty more discussed as well so please feel free to speak with your club President for any other questions you might have.

I'll be in touch again with another update soon.

For now, enjoy the lead up to the season, blow out the cobwebs, and good luck to anyone in finals in other sporting codes.
